Job summary

Flagship is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Scientist to lead hydrology-aware climate modeling within its environmental platform. You will steer ML research at the intersection of hydrology, climate science, and AI, defining priorities and evaluation strategies.

Based in Cambridge, MA or Boulder, CO with travel, you will work with large climate datasets, build reproducible workflows, and translate scientific insights into scalable models.

Qualifications

• PhD in Earth science, climate science, hydrology, AI, or related field.
• 5+ years postdoctoral or industry experience in climate ML, weather modeling, or Earth system modeling.
• Strong publication record.
• Expertise with large climate datasets, Python, PyTorch, and cloud infrastructure (AWS).
• Knowledge of scientific ML, data assimilation, and hybrid physics-ML approaches.
