Job summary

Hlx Life Sciences is seeking a machine learning scientist to apply advanced ML to large-scale biological data and drug discovery. You will build methods and surface insights by collaborating with biologists, data scientists and engineers to move programmes forward.

The role requires a PhD or equivalent in a quantitative or life-sciences field, 3+ years of industry experience, strong Python skills, and a collaborative, impact-driven mindset.

Job description

We're working with a well-backed, technology-driven biotech applying machine learning to large-scale biological data to better understand disease and develop new treatments. They're at a great stage, well-resourced, but still shaping their science and culture, so this hire will have real influence over both.

They're after a machine learning scientist with a strong methods background who's keen to point it at biology and drug discovery. You'd be building and applying ML approaches to complex biological datasets, working alongside biologists, data scientists, and engineers to surface insights that move programmes forward.

The role:

• Develop and apply machine learning methods to large, complex biological datasets
• Collaborate across a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers
• Turn data into actionable insight that supports the discovery of new therapies
• Contribute to the tools, methods, and standards the team relies on

What they're looking for:

• Advanced degree (PhD or equivalent) in a quantitative or life-sciences field — ML, computer science, computational biology, or similar
• 3+ Years of Industry experience
• Hands-on experience applying ML to biological or scientific data
• Comfort working across multiple data types and bringing them together
• Strong programming (Python or similar) and solid engineering practices
• A collaborative approach and a real interest in impact
