Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Platform Engineer to build and operate the foundational infrastructure powering feature engineering, model training, and model serving at scale.

You will support fraud detection, user personalization, and blockchain analysis with a platform that spans streaming, training, and inference services. This remote-first role includes quarterly in-person surges in the US workforce.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience as a software engineer with distributed systems in production.
• Built and operated low-latency data/ML infrastructure (streaming pipelines, online serving systems, or distributed training) at scale.
• Track record of mentoring engineers and raising team engineering quality through code reviews, design reviews, and technical leadership.
• Familiarity with ML platform components (feature stores, model serving frameworks, training orchestration) sufficient to partner with ML engineers as a platform builder.
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Senior Machine Learning Platform Engineer

As a Senior Machine Learning Platform Engineer on the ML Platform team within the Platform group, you'll build the foundational infrastructure that powers feature engineering, model training, and model serving across Coinbase. The platform you build supports fraud detection, user personalization, and blockchain analysis. You'll own critical systems spanning stream processing, distributed training, and highly available inference services, directly shaping how ML scales across the company.

What you'll do:

Pay Transparency Notice: Base salary varies by location (see range below). Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)).

$191,250 — $225,000 USD
