If you're energized by keeping a global supply chain moving, building strong carrier relationships, and owning the process that gets orders where they need to go on time, you might've just found your people.

Role Overview

ShineOn is seeking a Senior Logistics Specialist to own the day-to-day execution and cost performance of inbound imports and domestic and international outbound shipping. A large part of this role is coordinating ocean container and air shipments from overseas factories through customs clearance, final delivery and warehouse receiving. You will negotiate carrier and freight agreements, maintain accurate rate models, reconcile invoices and recover eligible claims and billing credits. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role: you will lead the logistics function independently, with no direct reports at the start. You will partner closely with Buying; Merchandising and Sourcing; Finance; Operations; Customer Support; B2B; and the Systems team.

Key Responsibilities
Inbound Imports and Container Coordination
  • Own finished-goods shipments from cargo-ready date through confirmed warehouse receipt, coordinating factories, freight forwarders, ocean and air carriers, customs brokers, and domestic transportation providers.
  • Choose between FCL, LCL, air, and express based on inventory needs, production schedules, and total landed cost and timing. Get approval for premium freight and exceptions.
  • Plan for peak demand, factory holidays, and Chinese New Year. Track bookings, cutoffs, milestones, releases, and last free days. Arrange drayage, delivery appointments, and empty-container returns, and prevent or dispute avoidable demurrage, detention and storage charges.
  • Maintain an inbound tracker with shipment references, document status, milestones, costs, and owners for open exceptions. Confirm physical receipt and the handoff to inventory records before closing each shipment.
Carrier Negotiation and Financial Accountability
  • Evaluate and negotiate with parcel carriers, freight forwarders and transportation providers using actual shipment data. Assess base rates, surcharges, accessorials, dimensional rules, volume commitments, payment terms, claims coverage, service commitments and termination terms. Quantify net savings and maintain fallback routing.
  • Make sure written agreements match negotiated terms. Track rate versions, effective dates and renewal deadlines.
  • Audit carrier, freight, brokerage and supplier-arranged shipping invoices against contracts, quotes and shipment records. Investigate duplicates, incorrect rates, reclassifications and unsupported charges.
  • Reconcile duties, taxes and pass-through charges to the correct shipment, order, merchant or B2B account, and customer invoice. Work with Finance to resolve gaps between amounts incurred, billed and collected.
  • Own claims and eligible bill-backs for loss, damage, shortages and service failures, including eligible service-guarantee refunds. Meet provider documentation requirements and claim deadlines, pursue denied or partial claims, and track each case through credits applied or refunds received in a dispute and recovery ledger.
  • Track carrier performance against service commitments and transit targets and escape failures with supporting evidence and financial impact. Serve as the primary escalation contact for all logistics providers.
Outbound Shipping and Warehouse Receiving
  • Coordinate pickups, manifests, cutoff times, peak capacity, receiving capacity and delivery appointments.
  • Resolve missed pickups, unscanned packages and delivery exceptions across standard, expedited, overnight and international services. Document discrepancies and arrange corrective action with factories, warehouses and carriers.
Documentation & Compliance
  • Review BOLs, air waybills, commercial invoices and packing lists against purchase orders, and resolve discrepancies before shipment.
  • Coordinate ISF filings and customs entries with authorized brokers. Verify broker authorizations and bond requirements, obtain filing confirmations, maintain complete shipment and customs records, and resolve clearance holds.
  • Maintain accurate HTS classification, country-of-origin, valuation and Incoterms data.
Analytics and Logistics Performance
  • Maintain auditable Excel or Google Sheets rate models and logistics dashboards. Reconcile source totals, preserve shipment identifiers, distinguish orders from packages, and validate calculations before recommending changes.
  • Report shipment and landed freight costs, invoice variance, shipping margin, pickup and delivery performance, import delays, loss and damage rates, and recovery aging. Define measurement periods, denominators, clock starts, and exclusions; set targets against validated baselines.
  • Present cost and service findings to leadership with quantified recommendations. Explain causes, financial impact, assumptions, accountable owners, and next actions; compare savings using consistent shipment mix and service requirements.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve routing, packaging, carrier mix, import planning, and reconciliation. Validate package dimensions and eligibility before new products or carriers launch.
  • Work with the systems team to test labels, routing, tracking, negotiated rates, and billing. Verify the first production shipments and invoices after changes, and maintain practical exception controls and documented procedures.
Collaboration
  • Serve as the logistics resource for carrier, customs, and delivery questions. Coordinate overseas factories and domestic and international partners across time zones, with clear written updates and timely escalation of urgent shipment exceptions.
  • Provide reliable shipment updates and confirm handoffs for receiving, inventory records, customer billing, claims, and approved pricing changes.
  • Route carrier agreements, premium freight, claims settlements, and customer bill-backs through company approval; establish backup coverage for time-sensitive clearance and pickup exceptions.
Work Environment

This is a full‑time role reporting to the VP of Operations, with no direct reports at the start. You will work closely with warehouse teams, overseas suppliers and logistics partners. The role requires some schedule flexibility for overseas coordination, including occasional early or late meetings and urgent shipment expectations. Schedule expectations and backup coverage will be agreed with leadership.

ShineOn is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
