• Skill Level I–III denote progression in locomotive maintenance.
• Experience as locomotive/diesel/automotive or aircraft mechanic is expected.
• Technical Certifications may apply for higher levels.

• Inspect equipment components for FRA and CVSR standards.
• Diagnose malfunctions and determine repairs or replacements.
• Perform emergency repairs to locomotives.
• Maintain written and computer maintenance records.
• Read schematics and blueprints to guide work.
