Merrill Gardens at Carolina Park in Mount Pleasant, SC is seeking a Senior Living Memory Care Activities Director to guide engagement programs for residents and coordinate dementia-friendly activities. The role collaborates with Garden House teams to deliver meaningful experiences while upholding dignity and individual needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required (minimum 18 years old).
• Two years' experience in Dementia care.
• Senior living experience preferred.
• Background checks and requirements must be met.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operational performance and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain records and documentation per policy.
• Coordinate daily activity routine for Garden House residents.
• Plan dementia-appropriate activities, events and outings.
• Order supplies and set up all activities in the Garden House.
• Provide daily status reports on resident engagement to GM and GHD.
• Ensure activity areas are clean, orderly and safe.
• Support housekeeping, laundry and meals as appropriate.

Our Senior Living Memory Care Activities Directors are responsible for:

• Operational Performance
• Ensures regulatory compliance.
• Maintains records and documentation per policy.
• Assists RCD/GHD in training all Garden House Team Members .
• Assists RCD/GHD in communicating with families regarding residents engagement.
• Assists with evaluation of incoming residents and periodic re‑evaluation to assure that interests are identified and activity needs are met.
• With GM and GHD coordinates daily activity routine of the Garden House, including any specialized activities.
• With ALPD, works on coordinating some activities/events all AL/IL and GH residents can be included in.
• Plans, coordinates and participates in a variety of dementia appropriate activities, social events and outings for residents according to engagement program standards.
• Orders supplies, schedules, and sets up all activities in the Garden House.
• Provides GM and GHD with daily status reports on all Garden House residents.
• Assists GHD with ensuring that the neighborhood is clean, orderly and secure in all common and activity areas.
• While working closely with the Garden House Team, the Program Director may provide assistance with housekeeping, laundry, meals, as appropriate.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Resident Satisfaction
• Provides leadership in creating and maintaining the highest standards of Garden House activities.
• Meets with residents and families regularly as directed.
• Ensures that residents' activity needs are being met with attention to individuality & dignity while maintaining an optimal level of functional ability in a professional and safe manner.
• Ensures that the Garden House team is fully trained in the Inspire Connection activity program.
• Acknowledge residents' special days (i.e., anniversaries and birthdays). Arrange and coordinate diverse holiday celebrations.
• Track resident activity participation and adjust calendar events accordingly.

If you are someone with:

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent. (Must be at least 18 years of age.)
• Two years' experience in Dementia care.
• Senior living experience preferred.
• Must meet all requirements of background checks and requirements needed.

Physical Requirements:

This role involves frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 75 lbs), and assisting with resident care. Regular bending, reaching, and physical movement are required throughout the workday.
