Job summary

MorningStar Senior Living LLC in Lakewood, CO is seeking a full-time Cook for a senior living community. Pay range is $21.00–$24.00 per hour. The schedule is Sunday through Thursday, 5am–1:30pm, with non-exempt status.

The Cook will prepare, cook, season, and serve nutritious meals in accordance with menus and dietary guidelines while complying with federal/state regulations and company policies. Benefits include health insurance options, 401k with matching, HSA, paid time off, education

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred, or ability to read and write English.
• Experience in dietary department of health care facility preferred.
• Ability to prepare and cook a variety of foods in large quantities.

Responsibilities

• Handle and prepare food that is palatable, appetizing, and attractive.
• Comply with meal schedules.
• Follow standard recipes and make independent decisions in line with current experience.
• Understand importance of proper food-handling techniques and hazards of improper food handling.
• Estimate quantities of food required and monitor portion-controlled guidelines.
• Prepare foodstuffs for cooking: Peel, wash, trim, and cut vegetables and fruit; wash, cut, de-bone and trim meat, fish and fowl.
• Taste, smell, and observe food to ensure conformity with recipes.
• Serve food according to dietary guidelines, checking each tray for completeness and accuracy.
• Cook food: Bake, roast, stew and steam-cook meats, fish and fowl, basting as necessary to retain flavor; make gravies, stocks, dressings, sauces and soups.
• Prepare cold meats, sandwiches, griddle cakes, cooked cereals, and beverages.
