McKnight Place Extended Care, a premier senior living organization in St. Louis, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Administrator-in-Training (AIT) to develop leadership skills through a full-time, on-site program.

This role offers hands-on exposure to governance, clinical care, and daily operations within a skilled nursing community. As an AIT, you will work closely with a Licensed Administrator and department leaders, gaining knowledge across operations, HR, finance, and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration or related field required.
• Excellent communication, organization, and follow-through skills.
• Previous experience in Senior Living or Long-Term Care preferred.
• Passion for senior care and leadership with empathy and accountability.

Responsibilities

• As an AIT, work closely with a Licensed Administrator and department leaders to learn operations.

This is an on-site position based in St. Louis, MO. Candidates must be able to work on-site in St. Louis immediately upon hire, with no relocation period needed. We do not offer relocation assistance, and this role does not support remote or hybrid work.

This is a full-time temporary, on-site position offering a unique opportunity to gain experience in senior living leadership.

What You’ll Do:

As an AIT, you will work closely with a Licensed Administrator and department leaders, gaining comprehensive knowledge of our Skilled Nursing Community operations. Your responsibilities will evolve throughout the program, including:

Resident Care & Clinical Support:

• Supporting teams in delivering respectful, person-centered care.
• Attending care plan meetings and observing clinical compliance.

Regulations & Quality Standards:

• Learning how state and federal regulations shape operations.
• Assisting with internal audits and survey compliance.

Team Building & HR Experience:

• Shadowing department heads across nursing, dining, housekeeping, and more.
• Assisting with scheduling, hiring, training, and staff engagement initiatives.

Finance & Facility Operations:

• Gaining hands-on experience with budgets, billing, and occupancy planning.
• Understanding how Medicare and private pay systems impact operations.

Projects & Leadership Practice:

• Leading real operational improvement projects.
• Reflecting on daily learning, meeting program goals, and developing your leadership voice.

What We’re Looking For:

We are seeking a future leader who is driven by purpose and eager to grow. The ideal candidate will possess:

• A bachelor’s degree is required (Healthcare Administration or a related field is strongly preferred).
• Excellent communication, organization, and follow-through skills.
• Previous Experience in Senior Living or Long-Term Care Required.
• A genuine passion for senior care and a desire to lead with empathy and accountability.
• The ability to meet Missouri's character and background standards, including being at least 21 years old.

Your Path to Licensure:

This role fulfills Missouri's requirement for a 1,000-hour AIT program, providing the necessary experience to sit for both the National (NAB) and Missouri State exams for licensure.
