Job summary

The Village Independent Living in Dearborn, MI, is seeking a friendly Cafeteria Associate for Window's Cafe inside our Independent Living community. You will greet residents, handle cash, serve light meals, and keep the cafe clean.

This role offers training opportunities, a supportive team, and flexible scheduling with competitive pay; prior cashier or food service experience is preferred but training is available.

Qualifications

• Experience as cashier, food service, or customer service preferred, but training may be provided.
• Friendly, patient, and professional with older adults.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Dependable with excellent attendance.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Food Handler certification is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Greet residents with a friendly, helpful attitude.
• Operate the cash register and accurately process resident purchases.
• Prepare and serve light meals, sandwiches, soups, salads, and other menu items.
• Restock food, beverages, and supplies throughout the day.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary café and kitchen area.
• Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned.
• Work as part of the dining services team to ensure excellent customer service.
