Job summary

Belmont Village Senior Living seeks a Building Engineer to maintain the community and grounds, ensuring life-safety and regulatory compliance across Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care.

Reporting to the leadership team, you will manage the maintenance program, coordinate with vendors, supervise staff, and support a culture of collaboration and excellence in Oak Park, Illinois. Strong technical skills and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to read building blueprints is preferred.
• Must be able to communicate clearly in verbal and written English.
• Minimum of 3 years maintenance experience in assisted living, senior living, hotels or multi-family housing preferred.
• Experience with MS Office and electronic work order systems (e.g., TELS) desired.
• Ability to work flexible schedules in a 24-hour operation including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Maintains the building maintenance program and adheres to housekeeping standards.
• Ensures life safety code requirements in the community are met and documents compliance.
• Manages electronic work order system and delegates repairs as needed.
• Coordinates with outside vendors for maintenance and supplies.
• Conducts apartment inspections and coordinates make-ready process.
• Responds to after-hours maintenance-related emergency calls.
• Supervises Building Engineer Assistant and Housekeepers.
• Collaborates with leadership, regional teams, and corporate support to align with goals.
• Leads staffing activities including interviewing, hiring, performance management, coaching, training and delegation.
