Job summary

Amentum is seeking an on-site Paralegal to support a fast-moving litigation environment with discovery across multiple cases. You will handle evidence, maintain chain of custody, and assist with Relativity data management and status reporting.

Qualifications include a paralegal certificate or JD (or ABA-law school progress), at least two years of litigation support experience, and strong research and communication skills for supporting attorneys and trial staff.

Qualifications

• Must obtain MRPT facility credentials; US Citizenship required for MRPT at this location.
• Paralegal certificate or JD or in ABA-accredited law school with at least one year completed; or equivalent.
• At least two years of litigation paralegal experience or related project experience.
• Strong discovery management skills, Relativity data management, and discovery status reporting.
• At least one year of automated litigation support experience.
• Solid knowledge of federal and state court systems and legal research resources.
• Excellent written and oral communication; proficient with legal research tools.
• Hands-on familiarity with word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware; ESI tools and eDiscovery procedures.
• Ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure.

Responsibilities

Job description

• Position is on-site at the customer location.
• Works under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal, DOJ administrator or a Project Supervisor.
• Supports a fast-moving litigation environment supporting multiple cases in discovery which includes handling of evidence and chain of custody requirements.
• Supports pre-indictment activities including database searches, reporting status to case team.
• Must have experience supporting data management within Relativity work-spaces (multiple cases).
• May require outside collaboration with other agencies outside of DOJ.
• Work products are reviewed prior to submission; however, often develops these products with minimal direct supervision other than written guidelines.
• In addition to functions performed by Paralegals, described below, performs moderately complex legal research; synopsizes transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorney use; reviews case related materials and, for example, identifies potentially conflicting statements or areas requiring further investigation; writes preliminary drafts of simple legal memoranda and correspondence.
• Contact mostly with other Contractor staff, but occasional contact with trial staff may be required.

Qualifications:

• Must be able to obtain and maintain MRPT (Moderate Risk Public Trust) facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
• Requires paralegal certificate, or JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one (1) year of study, or an equivalent level five (5) four (4) years of legal training or experience ; or an equivalent level of education may be substituted.
• Additionally at least two (2) years of litigation paralegal experience or project experience (as related to the task order) is required.
• Strong Discovery management skills are required–supporting data management in Relativity, evidence tracking and general discovery status reporting are required.
• At least one year of experience in automated litigation support.
• Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court system, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
• Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools.
• Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.
• Role also requires hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
• Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important.

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.

Compensation Details:
