Job summary

Inflow seeks a skilled Linux systems engineer to support DoD missions from Huntsville, AL. You will design and manage Linux workstations, servers, and HPC clusters, using Python, Bash, and Ansible to automate infrastructure while advancing Podman and Kubernetes environments.

You will also optimize InfiniBand networking, implement hardened security, and manage large-scale storage with Lustre/GPFS. A TS clearance with SCI eligibility is required, with readiness to obtain a CI polygraph.

Qualifications

• You must have a Bachelor's degree in a STEM field.
• Ability and willingness to obtain SAP eligibility.
• Deep-tier Linux systems engineering experience (RHEL/Rocky preferred).
• Active DoD 8570.01-M baseline certification (Security+ CE, SSCP, or equivalent).
• Active DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility and a CI Scope Polygraph within 180 days.

Responsibilities

What level Clearance do I need?

You must possess an active DoD Top Secret clearance, with eligibility for SCI and a CI Scope Polygraph within 180 days.

What will I be doing?

Using your expertise in Linux administration, you will be providing support for critical missions, ensuring that data stays fast, fluid, and impenetrable. In addition, you will:

• Lead the design and lifecycle management of mission-critical Linux workstations, enterprise-grade servers, and high-performance computing (HPC) clusters.
• Treat the data center as a codebase. Develop sophisticated automation workflows using Python, Bash, and Ansible to eliminate manual toil and ensure drift-free configurations.
• Modernize scientific workflows by deploying and managing isolated environments using Podman while working to establish a Kubernetes environment.
• Configure and optimize high-bandwidth networking, including InfiniBand fabrics, for seamless inter-node communication.
• Author high-fidelity playbooks and strategic architectural diagrams that serve as the blueprint for our evolving infrastructure.
• Push the limits of the silicon. Optimize cluster scheduling and management utilizing industry-leading tools like Bright Cluster Manager and Slurm.
• Implement "Hardened by Design" security. Fine-tune SELinux policies and advanced firewall configurations to protect sensitive data without sacrificing computational performance.
• Master the art of data movement. Administer complex local and distributed filesystems (Lustre, GPFS/Spectrum Scale) to ensure extreme-speed access across the fabric.

What experience, training, and education do I need?

You mustmeet the minimum requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, Physics, or STEM
• Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) eligibility
• Deep-tier professional experience in Linux systems engineering (RHEL/ /Rocky preferred)
• Active DoD 8570.01-M baseline certification (Security+ CE, SSCP, or equivalent)
• Active DoD Top Secret Clearance with eligibility for SCI and a CI Scope Polygraph within 180 days of hire

The following is preferred:

• Supercomputing Experience: Direct experience tuning kernel parameters and MPI libraries for large-scale distributed computing
• Hybrid Virtualization: Expertise in VMware, Nutanix, or KVM within a heterogeneous environment that include Windows integration
• Advanced Certification: RHCE, RHCSA, or similar
