Senior Linear Utility Design Engineer

AH Engineering Consultants is an environmental engineering and consulting firm.

Locations: Newport News, VA; Virginia Beach, VA; Jacksonville, FL; Hampstead, NC. Employment Type: Regular Full-Time.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and design of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including pump stations, storage systems, pipelines, and related utility improvements
• Prepare or oversee engineering reports, technical specifications, construction drawings, and cost estimates
• Manage projects through design and negotiate support during bidding and construction phases
• Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, subconsultants, and internal multidisciplinary teams
• Provide technical leadership, design oversight, and quality control for project deliverables
• Support permitting and regulatory compliance for municipal water and wastewater projects
• Mentor junior engineers and technical staff and contribute to team development
• Participate in client meetings, proposal development, and business development efforts
• Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• 10+ years of experience in water/wastewater engineering design, preferably in a consulting environment
