Job summary

Unispace is seeking a Senior Associate, Design – Life Sciences to lead design packages for laboratory and technically complex environments. You will work directly with clients to translate scientific and operational needs into innovative, compliant design solutions and coordinate with engineering teams through delivery.

You’ll combine lab planning expertise with strong client relationships and design leadership within Unispace’s integrated design‑build model, ensuring design intent is realized

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years’ experience within Life Sciences, laboratory or other technical design environments.
• Strong laboratory planning experience, including programming, layouts and technical coordination.
• Solid understanding of how laboratories and specialist environments operate.
• Experience delivering projects from concept through design development and construction.
• Strong technical design capability and experience producing coordinated construction documentation.
• Strong Revit capability, alongside proficiency with CAD and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Good knowledge of building codes, regulatory requirements and compliance.
• Confidence working directly with clients and presenting design concepts.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams.
• Understanding of detailing, materials, FF&E and technical specifications.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining design quality and technical accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Lead design packages across Life Sciences, lab and technical projects.
• Plan and develop laboratory environments and technical coordination.
• Translate client requirements into effective design solutions.
• Develop strong client relationships and act as trusted design partner.
• Lead projects through concept, development and construction documentation.
• Produce and oversee detailed drawings and construction packages.
• Ensure designs meet codes and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with MEP, engineering and consultants.
• Mentor junior team members and share knowledge.
