Job summary

The City of San Diego seeks a Librarian IV to supervise a major library section within the Central Library or a large branch, handling high circulation and catalog duties. MLS/MLIS with three years’ professional Librarian experience is required, with possible bonuses for bilingual capabilities.

Qualifications

• Meet ONE of the education/experience options: MLS/MLIS + 3 years professional Librarian experience; or ALA-accredited Masters + 3 years; or MLS/MLIS or equivalent + 3.5 years; or Bachelor's with library coursework + 4.5 years.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a major section of the Central Library or a large branch with high annual circulation.
• Oversee cataloging, materials circulation, and patron database systems.
• Provide leadership and coordinate staff in service delivery to diverse patrons.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the department head.
