Job summary

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine seek a seasoned legal professional to provide broad counsel to the organization, including the NAS, NAE, and NAM. You will lead complex legal projects, draft and review agreements, and advise on governance, contracts, grants, and IP issues in a dynamic, high-responsibility setting.

You will mentor paralegal staff, collaborate with outside counsel, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and policies while supporting strategic

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate required; admission to the District of Columbia Bar.
• Six years of related professional experience.
• Experience advising on personnel, contracts, and IP matters.
• Ability to supervise outside counsel and coordinate with the General Counsel.

Responsibilities

• Counsel and advise on personnel, employment, benefits, labor and IP matters; supervises outside counsel.
• Negotiate, draft, and review leases, contracts, and licenses; provide legal research and analysis.
• Develop uniform templates and collaborate with colleagues across the organization.
• Maintain confidentiality and manage privileged information in accordance with policy.
