Job summary

Ameren Services in St. Louis, MO, is seeking a Senior Strategist to support developing, measuring, and executing Ameren's corporate strategy and business segment plans. You will work with executive leadership to define strategic initiatives and translate them into actionable roadmaps.

Collaborate with Strategy, Finance, Risk, and Analytics teams to monitor KPIs, prepare executive materials, and present recommendations that drive long‑term value for customers, shareholders and the environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and five or more years of professional experience in general business, strategic planning, operations, or related fields.
  • Experience leading cross functional teams without direct line reporting relationships preferred.
  • Experience with strategy, business plans and/or scorecards preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refresh the corporate strategy and business segment functional plans by evaluating internal performance, external trends, and future uncertainties.
  • Facilitate strategic planning processes, including annual and long‑term plan refreshes and scenario planning.
  • Partner with senior leaders to align on strategic objectives, evaluate tradeoffs, and advise on investments.
  • Design, develop and communicate strategic performance measures, targets, and insights for leadership decision-making.

About The Position

The Senior Strategist will support developing, measuring, and executing Ameren's corporate strategy and business segment functional plans. The role will support executive and senior leadership to support both strategy development and strategic planning, including defining strategic initiatives and updating long‑term strategies and business plans. In addition, the role will support measurement of the strategy through management of scorecards and analysis of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Key responsibilities
  • Develop and refresh the corporate strategy and business segment functional plans by evaluating internal performance, external trends, future uncertainties, peer and cross‑industry leading practices, and emerging opportunities to identify strategic choices, priorities, and actions that support Ameren's long‑term success.
  • Facilitate strategic planning processes, including annual and long‑term plan refreshes, scenario planning, business assessments, leadership workshops, and prioritization activities that translate strategy into actionable roadmaps
  • Partner with senior leaders to align on strategic objectives, evaluate strategic tradeoffs, assess progress, and recommend adjustments to priorities and investments in response to changing business conditions
  • Design, develop and communicate strategic performance measures, targets, and insights that assess progress toward strategic objectives and inform leadership decision‑making
  • Develop strategic analyses, recommendations, and executive‑level materials to support leadership decision‑making, Board discussions, and other ad‑hoc strategic initiatives and enterprise priorities
  • Lead the development of presentations, reports, and communications that translate strategy, execution progress, and performance results into meaningful business insights for stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Strategy, Business Planning, Risk Management, Finance, and Analytics teams to align strategic priorities, planning assumptions, and investment decisions across the enterprise
Qualifications - Senior Strategist
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited University is required and five or more years of professional experience in general business, strategic planning, operations, business development, etc; or advanced degree with three or more years of professional experience..
  • Experience leading cross functional teams without direct line reporting relationships preferred.
  • Experience with strategy, business plans and/or scorecards preferred.
Qualifications - Lead Strategist
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited University is required, and seven or more years of professional experience in general business, strategic planning, finance, business development, etc.; or advanced degree with five or more years of professional-level experience.
  • Experience leading cross functional teams without direct line reporting relationships preferred.
  • Experience with strategy, business plans and/or scorecards preferred.

Compensation Range: $105,100.00 - $204,400.00 * This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends upon applicant's credentials. At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within the organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
