Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. in New York, NY seeks a Senior Lead Software Engineer to own core areas of pre-trade, trade capture, pricing, and real-time risk and P&L streaming.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied Java and Spring experience.

• Transformation projects in Fixed Income trading system domain.

Responsibilities

• Programming with 100% hands-on development, support, bug fixes and users’ management.
• Design and develop trading tools, technical solutions and streamline stack across pre-trade, trade capture and pricing domain of FICC asset class.
• Analyze legacy systems and processes; identify areas for improvement and innovation.
• Develop metrics and KPIs to measure the success of transformation initiatives and report progress to senior leadership.
• Drive the design and development of the new system, deep dive into existing system and processes to propose solutions.
• Collaborate with wider SPG Trading, Risk and P&L teams to build scalable and robust solutions that support business needs.
• Proactively communicate to management and business stakeholders.
• Lead pilot projects to test new technologies and methodologies, evaluating their potential impact on the firm.
• Drives adoption and governance of AI-assisted engineering practices across teams to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
• Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain to improve automation at scale.

As a Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Corporate & Investment Bank Securitized Product Group Technology team, you will be a subject matters expert (SME) for a specific area of trade pre-trade, trade capture, pricing, and real-time risk & pnl stream of work. Your expertise is applied cross-functionally to drive the adoption and implementation of technical methods within various teams and aid the firm in remaining at the forefront of industry trends, best practices, and technological advances.

Job responsibilities

• Programming and problem-solves with 100% hands‑on development, support , bug fixes and users’ management skills.
• Design and develop trading tools, technical solutions and streamline technological stack across pre-trade, trade capture and pricing domain of FICC asset class.
• Conduct thorough analysis of legacy systems and processes; identify areas for improvement and innovation.
• Develop metrics and KPIs to measure the success of transformation initiatives and report progress to senior leadership.
• Drive the design and development of the new system, deep dive in-to existing system and processes to propose solutions.
• Collaborate with wider SPG Trading, Risk and P&L teams to build scalable and robust solutions that support business needs.
• Quickly develop proof-of-concept solution to prove feasibility of technological solutions.
• Proactively communicate to management and business stake holders.
• Lead pilot projects to test new technologies and methodologies, evaluating their potential impact on the firm.
• Drives adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices across teams to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test acceleration, release readiness, incident/root-cause analysis), while establishing measurable validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and promoting reuse of proven patterns and automation within the SDLC/TLM toolchain.
• Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation at scale.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience of Java, Core Spring Framework and including other sub-projects like Spring Boot and Spring Cloud. Python or C++ are also acceptable

• Experience in developing software using Kafka, IBM MQ, Tibco and AMPS as messaging hubs.
• Experience in developing transformation projects with latest technological skills in Fixed Income trading system domain.
• Demonstrated prior experience influencing across highly matrixed, complex organizations and delivering value at scale
• Experience in working on complex projects supporting system design, testing, and operational stability
• Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
• Demonstrated experience leading effective use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching senior engineers/leads on compliant usage patterns and controls.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• 10+ years of software development experience using either: Java, Python, C++ or SQL.
• Experience as a lead software engineer for a small team is preferred.
• Strong understanding of programming and problem-solving skills.
