Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. in Jersey City is seeking a Senior Lead Software Engineer to join the Commercial & Investment Bank - eTrading team. You will guide an agile group to deliver trusted, scalable technology products with secure coding practices and high quality production code.

You will act as a senior SME across the SDLC, promote responsible AI usage, mentor engineers, and collaborate with partners to drive impactful business outcomes.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience.
• Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Advanced knowledge of C and C++.
• Experience leading use of AI-assisted software development tools and setting AI output validation.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows with security considerations.
• Advanced knowledge of cloud, AI/ML, and related tech.
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

• Education in CS, CE, Math or related technical field.

Job responsibilities

• Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors
• Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
• Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes

• Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering* concepts and 10+ years applied experience
• Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Advanced knowledge and demonstrated skills in in programming languages C and C++
• Demonstrated experience leading effective use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching senior engineers/leads on compliant usage patterns and controls.
• Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
• Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
• Practical cloud native experience
• Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
