Job summary

Mesa County Road and Bridge is seeking a full-time Heavy Equipment Operator to perform complex road and right-of-way maintenance using motor graders, bulldozers, loaders, and other heavy machines. This role involves independent work in remote areas and leading others when needed.

Responsibilities include operating a variety of equipment, performing repairs, coordinating with local agencies, and joining 24-hour on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and three years of related experience.
• Must have or obtain Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement after hire.
• State Flagger Certification and Brake Certification obtainable after hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate and drive heavy, complex equipment for road and right-of-way maintenance.
• Lead worker responsibilities including training, directing work, and reporting issues.
• Work in remote areas, often with limited supervision and 24-hour call-out status.
• Coordinate with local towns, agencies, and service personnel as per policy.
• Perform routine maintenance and equipment checks to ensure safe operation.
