This role sits at the heart of the Office of the CEO organization, inside the AI Trust and Governance engineering team — the group making sure Salesforce's AI is powerful and trustworthy. As a Senior/Lead Software Engineer, you'll bring hands-on technical leadership across architecture, platform innovation, and large-scale distributed systems. You'll team up with engineering, product, architecture, and platform partners to design and build scalable, cloud-native services that power Salesforce's AI Trust and Governance mission. As a senior/lead IC, you'll set the technical direction, mentor engineers, tackle thorny technical challenges, and raise the bar for the whole team. If you're well-versed and passionate about Core and near-Core systems, systems programming, and building highly concurrent, highly scalable, resilient systems, this is the team for you.
AI-first mindset: Strong orientation toward leveraging AI-driven tools, automation, and intelligent workflows to supercharge developer productivity, system capabilities, and product value. Adaptable and results-driven: Adapt quickly to shifting requirements, priorities, and strategies in a fast-moving environment built on Salesforce Core, partnering with teams such as Data Cloud and AI Platform. Lead the design and development of cutting-edge AI system functionality. Ownership and leadership: Design new architecture to solve complex scalability problems. Build comprehensive functional and system-level tests for your area. Take features end-to-end and drive the design and architecture decisions that shape them. Strong collaboration skills: A proactive team player who engages across teams to drive solutions and improvements. Investigates issues through debugging and root cause analysis to diagnose defects. Takes an active role in the release and deployment process.
Guide MTS/AMTS engineers through mentorship and code/design reviews, elevating the team's overall craft.
BS or higher degree in Computer Science. 4+ years industry experience in system or database internals programming. 4+ years technical leadership in architecture and design of enterprise server platform or systems. Deep expertise with distributed systems and consensus algorithms. Experience with highly concurrent multi-threaded/multi-process data structures and design. An innovator's mindset with strong problem-solving skills and a results-oriented attitude. Ability to learn fast and deliver high quality code in a fast-paced, dynamic agile team environment. Strong Java or C programming skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills, with proven cross-team collaboration experience. Comfortable juggling multiple projects, hitting deadlines, and rolling with shifting priorities. A team-first mentality - you celebrate the win as much as the assist. The ability to turn strategic goals into concrete technical plans and architecture. Experience with the Salesforce platform (Apex, LWC, Data Cloud), or the hustle to learn it fast. Hands-on experience with Salesforce Agentforce or Agent Builder. Skilled at critically evaluating code, human- or AI-generated for correctness, quality, security, and performance through rigorous review.

The typical base salary range for this position is $148,500 - $260,100 annually. In select cities within the San Francisco and New York City metropolitan area, the base salary range for this role is $178,900 - $285,800 annually. The range represents base salary only, and does not include company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity or benefits, as applicable.
