Job summary

Sora Resource Group is expanding into the Phoenix market with a senior electrical engineer to establish and grow the new office. You will lead the electrical design practice for industrial, semiconductor and life sciences projects, serving as the local point of contact for regional clients.

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer (Electrical), with Arizona registration or the ability to obtain it.
• Experience leading electrical design for industrial, semiconductor, life sciences, or other process-driven facilities.
• Desire to learn and grow along with the new office.

Responsibilities

• Build the Phoenix office: serve as local point of contact for clients in the region, hire and mentor engineers and designers as the office grows, staff and deliver projects with other offices.
• Engineering and project delivery: design power distribution for industrial facilities including LV/MV distribution, motor controls, lighting, standby generation, and fire alarm; perform short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies; lead electrical design from basis of design through construction documents, CA, and startup; coordinate with other disciplines; review and seal drawings as Engineer of Record.
• Lead and manage project teams to ensure on-time delivery and adherence to codes and client standards; develop office capabilities and processes to scale with growth.

About our client

Our client is a growing, employee-owned engineering firm expanding into the Phoenix market to support semiconductor work in the region, and they are looking for a senior electrical engineer to build the new office around. The firm designs electrical, mechanical, process, and control systems for semiconductor fabs, life sciences plants, research labs, and industrial manufacturing facilities. Their electrical work runs from site-wide medium-voltage upgrades through motor controls, lighting, fire alarm, and on-site generation, along with short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies.

The role

The Senior Electrical Engineer will be the firm's first engineer in Phoenix, establish its electrical practice in the market, and grow into leading the office. The firm develops its leaders from within, so the person who opens the office is the one expected to run it as it grows.

The position is based in the Phoenix, AZ area.

What you would be doing

Building the office

• Serve as the firm's local point of contact for clients in the region
• Hire, mentor, and develop engineers and designers as the office grows
• Work with the firm's other offices to staff and deliver projects

Engineering and project delivery

• Design power distribution for industrial and critical facilities, including low- and medium-voltage distribution, motor controls, lighting and lighting control, standby generation, and fire alarm
• Perform and review short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies
• Lead electrical design from basis of design through construction documents, construction administration, and startup
• Coordinate with process, mechanical, and controls engineers on integrated facility designs
• Review and seal drawings and calculations as Engineer of Record
