Job summary

Modern Machining Solutions Inc seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to establish and grow its Denver office. You will lead the electrical practice, staff the office, and deliver design for industrial facilities, including power distribution, LV/MV, motor controls, and standby generation.

As the inaugural Denver engineer, you will recruit, mentor, and coordinate with other offices to staff projects, perform protection studies, and seal drawings as Engineer of Record.

Qualifications

• PE license in Electrical is required or must be obtained for Colorado registration.
• Experience leading electrical design for industrial, semiconductor, life sciences, or process-driven facilities.
• Desire to learn and grow into the new role.

Responsibilities

• Build the Denver office as the local point of contact for regional clients.
• Hire, mentor, and develop engineers and designers as the office grows.
• Staff and deliver projects with firm-wide collaboration.
• Design power distribution for industrial facilities including LV/MV, motor controls, lighting, and standby generation.
• Perform short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies; lead from design through construction documents and startup.
• Coordinate with process, mechanical, and controls engineers; review and seal drawings as Engineer of Record.

Education

Licensed Professional Engineer (Electrical) with Colorado registration or ability to obtain

About our client

Our client is a growing, employee-owned engineering firm expanding into the Denver market, and they are looking for a senior electrical engineer to build the new office around. The firm designs electrical, mechanical, process, and control systems for semiconductor fabs, life sciences plants, research labs, and industrial manufacturing facilities. Their electrical work runs from site-wide medium-voltage upgrades through motor controls, lighting, fire alarm, and on-site generation, along with short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies.

The role

The Senior Electrical Engineer will be the firm's first engineer in Denver, establish its electrical practice in the market, and grow into leading the office. The firm develops its leaders from within, so the person who opens the office is the one expected to run it as it grows.

The position is based in the Denver, CO area.

What you would be doing

Building the office

• Serve as the firm's local point of contact for clients in the region
• Hire, mentor, and develop engineers and designers as the office grows
• Work with the firm's other offices to staff and deliver projects

Engineering and project delivery

• Design power distribution for industrial and critical facilities, including low- and medium-voltage distribution, motor controls, lighting and lighting control, standby generation, and fire alarm
• Perform and review short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies
• Lead electrical design from basis of design through construction documents, construction administration, and startup
• Coordinate with process, mechanical, and controls engineers on integrated facility designs
• Review and seal drawings and calculations as Engineer of Record

What we are looking for

• Licensed Professional Engineer (Electrical), with Colorado registration or the ability to obtain it
