Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Senior Lead Security Engineer to shape cryptography strategy and drive data-protection initiatives across platforms in our Cybersecurity, Technology and Controls organization. You will lead key management programs, PKI and TLS guidance, and coordinate cross-team risk remediation with senior stakeholders.

You will design secure cryptographic solutions, mentor engineering teams, and advance post-quantum readiness while embedding security into the software development

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on security engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
• Strong foundation in system design and applied cryptography.
• Hands-on experience with key management concepts and implementations.
• Translate security requirements into engineering deliverables that are testable and auditable.
• Advanced Java experience with secure coding practices.
• Experience designing and operating enterprise-grade services with reliability practices.
• Experience with threat modeling and coordinating security assessments.
• Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and communicate risk to senior stakeholders.
• Ability to review AI-assisted security recommendations before adoption.

Responsibilities

• Own cryptography and key management strategy across platforms and apps.
• Lead design of key management and data protection capabilities, including HSM and KMS integrations.
• Design and deliver applied cryptography solutions for data-at-rest, in-transit, and in-use.
• Operate cryptographic key lifecycle controls and audit logging/monitoring.
• Embed cryptography via reusable libraries and migration plans away from legacy algorithms.
• Own certificate and identity cryptography, including PKI and TLS guidance.
• Drive post-quantum readiness with migrations and upgrade paths.
• Advise stakeholders during vulnerability periods with risk assessment and tradeoffs.
• Build shift-left security into SDLC with threat modeling and policy-as-code.
• Lead security testing and assurance for cryptographic and key systems.
• Improve engineering practices via mentoring, reviews, and runbooks.
