Job summary

Lumen seeks a Senior Lead Applied AI Scientist to design, build, deploy, and scale production AI solutions across agents, generative AI, and ML workloads. You will partner with business, product, and engineering leaders to translate opportunities into measurable AI value.

You’ll bring hands-on expertise in AI, ML, and software development, prototype rapidly, and guide stakeholders through tradeoffs while advancing MLOps and reusable frameworks across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of applying AI, ML or data science with production deployments.
• Proven track record delivering AI solutions with measurable business impact.
• Deep expertise in ML, statistics, experimentation and analytics.
• Hands-on with LLM, RAG, agentic and ML solutions.
• Experience in AI evaluation, performance optimization and monitoring.
• Proficient in Python and major AI/ML frameworks.
• Experience with MLOps, LLMOps and cloud AI platforms.
• Strong product mindset and ability to communicate with technical/business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy production AI solutions across domains.
• Collaborate with business and product teams; define success metrics.
• Develop advanced AI systems including generative and predictive models.
• Define evaluation frameworks; improve quality, safety, and cost.
• Work with Engineering on scalable, production-ready solutions.
• Contribute reusable AI frameworks and standards for adoption.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship on AI initiatives.
