Job summary

Rocket Lab in Virginia is seeking a Lead Test & Launch Operations Engineer to oversee end-to-end testing, launch, and mission operations for Electron and Neutron vehicles. You will coordinate across disciplines, develop operational procedures, and serve as the primary technical authority during mission-critical operations.

The role demands 5–8+ years in propulsion or related aerospace fields, strong leadership, and hands-on experience with mission control, HMIs, and CONOPS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, chemical engineering or other technical field.
• 5–8+ years of engineering experience in propulsion, aviation, launch vehicles, or spacecraft.
• Experience with high-reliability aerospace systems design, test, or operations.
• Demonstrated leadership competencies and ability to manage teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage teams responsible for vehicle mechanical, propulsion, and fluid systems for Electron and Neutron launch operations.
• Oversee Mission Control console operations during tests, rehearsals, and launches.
• Develop and maintain CONOPS for vehicle systems.
• Create and improve test plans, procedures, and checklists for vehicle operations.
• Design HMIs for operational monitoring and control.
• Lead readiness reviews, training simulations, and mission rehearsals.
