Job summary

Diamond Foundry Inc. in San Francisco seeks a Senior Laser Process Engineer to deploy and optimize laser machines across our facilities.

You will work with mechanical, electrical, automation, optical, software, and systems engineers to perfect processes, produce standard procedures, and train staff for ongoing optimization and support. You will apply Zemax and optical design principles, align lasers, analyze data to derive actionable improvements, and contribute to high-volume

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Materials Science, Applied Physics (materials, laser, or optics focus), or Engineering with a minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with mass production of diamond, semiconductors, and/or ceramics.
• Expertise with applying optical fundamentals, laser materials processing, and resolving technical problems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Fast learner with the ability to quickly adapt to new environments, tools, and workflows.
• Possesses knowledge of optics and optical principles and experience deploying optics and laser-based processes or products.

Responsibilities

• Optimize laser processes to deliver high yields of diamond parts with high dimensional stability.
• Experience with Zemax, optical system design, and diffractive optics.
• Hands-on experience with experimenting and aligning laser equipment.
• Analyzing complex data and deriving actionable insights and solutions.
• Some experience programming scripts for motion systems with ACS, Aerotech, or high-end motion controllers.
