Job summary

ERM is hiring Senior Right of Way Agents to support electric transmission and distribution projects across Richmond, VA / Raleigh and Charlotte, NC. The role focuses on land acquisition, land rights, licenses, leases, permits and other documents essential for construction, operation and maintenance of facilities.

This is a full-time 40-hour week limited-term position for 12 months, extendable. ERM, a global sustainability consultancy, emphasizes diversity and inclusion and offers opportunities

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum 2 years of ROW experience; transmission project experience preferred.
  • Notary public or ability to obtain within 30 days is required.
  • Solid working knowledge of PC, Microsoft Office, Google Earth, ArcGIS and data management software.
  • Knowledgeable in real estate values and accepted real estate appraisal practices.
  • Ability to travel regionally and communicate effectively in writing and speech.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate with landowners on land, land rights and related agreements.
  • Settle complex damage claims with landowners related to construction.
  • Search courthouse and other records to determine present property ownership and extent of interest.
  • Advise on fair market values to be used in land acquisitions.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate health and safety policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

ERM is hiring Senior Right of Way Agents in Richmond, VA/Raleigh and Charlotte, NC to support electric transmission and distribution project efforts. ROW Agents will be responsible for the acquisition of land, land rights, licenses, leases, permits and other documents necessary for the construction, operation and maintenance of facilities. This is a full-time (40 hours a week) limited-term role with a duration of 12 months, extendable.

RESPONSBILTIES:

  • Conduct diverse and complex negotiations with land owners (or their designees).
  • Work on the settlement of complex damage claims with land owners (or their designees) relative to property damage caused or created during the construction.
  • Search courthouse and other records to determine present property ownership(s) and the extent of interest therein.
  • Advise and assist in establishing a range of fair market values to be used in the acquisition of land and land rights.
  • Compliance with corporate health and safety policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma.
  • Minimum 2 years of ROW experience, transmission project experience preferred.
  • Notary public or the ability to obtain within 30 days is required.
  • Solid working knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Earth, ArcGIS and data management software.
  • Knowledgeable in real estate values and accepted real estate appraisal practices.
  • Ability to travel regionally.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a high degree of professionalism.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communications.
  • Valid Drivers License.
  • Must meet criteria identified in Job Demands & Conditions Analysis for Office and Field Positions.
