Job summary

Harley Ellis Devereaux (HED) seeks a Senior Laboratory Planner to lead planning for medium- to large-scale science labs across projects and offices. You will advise teams, develop programming, and set planning standards for varied lab environments including STEM teaching labs, cleanrooms, vivaria, and support spaces.

The role emphasizes collaboration with architects, designers, and engineers, advancing lab facilities through standards, thought leadership, and pursuit of strategic projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in architecture or related field required.
• Professional license or license track preferred.
• Minimum ten years of experience in similar role.
• LEED Green Associate or LEED Accredited Professional preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office software and Autodesk Revit required.
• Knowledge of other 2D and 3D software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meet with user groups to determine technical requirements of proposed laboratory spaces.
• Prepare written program documents for sign-off by user groups and owners.
• Develop alternative design proposals based on user requirements.
• Coordinate project team members across design and document best-of-class lab facilities.
• Conduct code research for laboratory portions of projects with Architect and Design Leader.
• Collaborate with other disciplines or outside consultants for project workflows.
• Attend project meetings as necessary.
• Document interpretation and submittal reviews during bidding and construction administration.
• Work with national offices to coordinate efforts advancing laboratory facilities.
