Job summary

UL Solutions is seeking an Assembly/Test Technician in Northbrook, IL to build and adapt setup and test equipment for complex tests. You will read blueprints, operate lab equipment, input data, and communicate results to engineers.

The role emphasizes accuracy, teamwork, and adherence to safety standards in a fast-paced lab environment. The position offers a $45,000–$60,000 annual salary with a 5% target bonus, full benefits, and PTO.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Builds/adapts setup and test equipment for complex tests using independent judgment.
• Applies working knowledge of test requirements and performs tests with general laboratory equipment.
• Performs routine care of designated test equipment and work area.
• Operates a computer to extract/input information and to use software.
• Examines test samples, reads instruments, and reviews data with supervisor.
• Reads/interprets blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams and instructions.
• Determines need for consult with engineers or lab technicians.
• Operates designated lab equipment and tools as directed.
• Receives instructions and reports data to supervisor and engineering/lab personnel.
• Prepares data sheets and records observations or calculations.
• Integrates continuous improvement concepts into all aspects of the job.
• Follows Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and security practices.
• Performs other duties as directed.

Job description

• Applies working knowledge of applicable test requirements and performs tests using general laboratory equipment.


• Performs routine care of designated test equipment and work area.


• Operates a computer to extract/input readily available information and to use available software.


• Examines test samples, reads measuring instruments and reviews test data with supervisor.


• Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams and operational instructions.


• Determines need for and seeks consultation from engineers or laboratory technicians.


• Operates designated laboratory equipment and tools as directed.


• Receives instructions from and reports data to supervisor and personnel in engineering and laboratory operations as needed.


• Prepares data sheets and records observed or calculated test results.


• Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.


• Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.


• Performs other duties as directed.

Total Rewards:We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career . The estimatedsalary range for this position is $45,000 to $60,000 and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors.This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 5% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
