Job summary

Grifols is seeking a Senior Lab Technician for its RUO Lab in California. You will perform serum/plasma testing, maintain analyzers, and download/export data while supporting assay calibration and daily QC.

The role requires a life science bachelor and 2+ years in IVD manufacturing, with strong math, organization, and independence. You will train new staff and work under GMP and SOP guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in biological, chemical or related life science field.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in IVD manufacturing; similar work may be considered.
• Proficiency in reading SOPs, safety rules and technical documents.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing of serum/plasma and prepare samples per instructions.
• Operate and maintain analyzers; perform daily/weekly/monthly QC.
• Calibrate assays on all analyzers and ensure data accuracy.
• Maintain clean, organized work area; follow GMP and SOPs.
• Assist with projects, inventory, and data export to testing folders.
• Train new personnel and communicate effectively with team.
• Analyze results and determine appropriate follow-up actions.
• Record data and organize hard copy documentation.
• Support pilot formulations testing against customer specs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Summary

Perform testing of serum/plasma according to defined instructions as to achieve conformance to customer requirements, including assay and machine QC and testing on all analyzers according to defined instructions. Perform tasks independently or with minimal supervision. Primary responsibilities include assisting with projects and production according to schedule, cleaning, preparing and diluting samples, weighing, and solution preparations. Perform daily, weekly and monthly maintenance on all analyzers, DI water system and general lab equipment. Responsible for downloading data from various analyzers and exporting data to the server test folder.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform testing functions including sample preparation, dilutions and testing

• Maintain a clean and orderly work area and exercise safe work practices
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices
• Follow SOPs and instructions for use
• Assist in maintaining inventory
• Communicate with Technical support to resolve analyzer issues
• Work independently on assigned projects
• Export testing results to the appropriate testing folder in a timely manner
• Analyze testing results and make decisions on a path forward
• Organize the hard copy data
• Train new personnel
• Write basic pilot formulations and test the pilots to see if they meet customer specifications
• Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Proficient in arithmetic and must be able to calculate ratios to perform conversions.
• Must understand the metric system and be able to do conversions.
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions accurately.
• Must be extremely organized and maintain a clean, safe work area.
• Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English and have an ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, SOPs, manuals and instructions is required.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Must br able to communicate w both new employees and senior staff.
• Must have a theoretical understanding on how the analyzers function.
• Must have some mechanical knowledge to solve minor issues w the equipment.
• Must be proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, Word and DYMO labeling program.

Education And Experience

• A Bachelor degree in a biological, chemical or other related physical or life science field
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in IVD manufacturing. Similar work experience may be considered.

The estimated pay scale for Senior Lab Technician, RUO Lab role based in California, is $33.83 - $50.75 per hour. Additionally, the position is eligible to participate in up to 5% of the company bonus pool.
