Job summary

Bassett Healthcare Network is seeking a Laboratory Technical Specialist (Medical Technologist) to perform clinical lab procedures and ensure accurate test results in support of patient care.

The role requires NYSDOH licensure compliance, extensive lab experience, and potential supervisory responsibilities. You will maintain equipment, participate in quality control, and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• Qualified as Clinical Laboratory Technologist per NYSDOH regulations.
• Minimum 6 years experience in standard laboratory methodologies.
• Minimum 1 year Clinical Laboratory Technologist IV, preferred.
• Minimum 2 years Clinical Laboratory Technologist III, preferred.
• Licensure by NYSED as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist required, or licensure-eligible with a limited permit or limited license as a Clinical Laboratory Technician with full licensure received before expiration of limited/provisional permit, required
• ASCP or other nationally recognized certification, preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs and verifies laboratory tests and/or prepares products for transfusion on acceptable specimens to obtain accurate data in accordance with established procedures and protocols.
• Performs result review for the clinical lab tests performed over the past 24 hours as defined by the technical section and shift in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Performs quality control (QC) processes and proficiency testing (PT) as assigned.
• Maintains laboratory equipment, instruments, reagents and/or supplies and documentation required in performance of job responsibilities.
• Follows all institution and department policies and procedures.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
• Direct, review, train and /or verify work of other clinical laboratory personnel, students, and/or nursing staff as assigned.
