Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond seeks a Senior Research Technician to join the Microbiology and Immunology lab focused on Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy. You will work with the PI to run molecular assays, analyze patient-derived specimens and support grant applications.

Qualifications

• Education: BS in Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology or related Life Sciences discipline.
• Experience: 3+ years of wet-lab research experience post-degree.
• Core competencies: DNA/RNA extraction, PCR/RT-qPCR, protein detection (Western blot/ELISA).
• Demonstrated ability to work professionally with diverse staff and students.

Responsibilities

• Execute molecular biology experiments (DNA/RNA extraction, PCR/RT-qPCR, cloning).
• Process and analyze clinical tumor/blood specimens with collaborators.
• Assist with murine tumor models and immune cell phenotyping (FACS).
• Maintain precise records and contribute to figures for grants/publications.
• Oversee lab operations, safety, reagents, and equipment maintenance.
• Communicate results clearly in meetings and with PI and team.
