Job summary

The Sonoda Lab in the Department of Biology at the University of Virginia’s College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences is hiring a full-time Senior Lab Research Assistant to support the launch and daily operations of a new lab in Charlottesville, VA. The role includes general laboratory support and active participation in neuroscience research on visual processing in retina, thalamus, and cortex.

Initial training will occur under supervision, with increasing independence in routine lab

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; may accept equivalent combination of experience or certification in lieu of degree.
• 2+ years of lab experience, including student experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with ordering, inventory, and basic budget tracking.
• Support mouse colony management.
• Assist with animal procedures, including microinjections into the mouse eye and brain.
• Assist with in vivo electrophysiological recordings.
• Support lab members with data collection, organization, and analysis.
