Job summary

Lambda is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Managed Kubernetes team. You will shape architecture, reliability, and automation of a Kubernetes-based infra powering AI training and inference at scale.

Ideal candidates have 6+ years in software engineering, deep Kubernetes knowledge, and strong Go/Python skills. The role emphasizes collaboration across the stack, with on-site work in SF/SJ/Bellevue four days a week and a fixed Tuesday work-from-home day.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with prior ownership of technical scope
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes controllers, schedulers, operators, CRDs, CSI, CNI
• Strong distributed systems fundamentals including fault tolerance and degradation
• Experience operating control planes and low-level pieces of large-scale Kubernetes clusters
• Observability at scale: Prometheus, Grafana, tracing, alerting
• Strong Go and Python programming; collaboration on shared codebases
• Solid Linux, networking, containers, and cloud infra knowledge

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable Kubernetes control plane services and operators; automate cluster lifecycle in Go/Python
• Develop GPU-aware orchestration to support GPU scheduling and resource allocation
• Collaborate on networking solutions for AI workloads (CNI integration, InfiniBand, RDMA)
• Build resilient systems with timeouts, retries, backoffs, degraded-mode operation
• Develop platform services for inference: model serving, autoscaling, multi-model deployment
• Create internal tools/CLIs for ML teams to deploy and monitor inference services
• Support and debug production issues via on-call rotation
