Job summary

Distinction, LLC is the operator of the St. Louis Job Corps Center, seeking a capable cook/food service lead to prepare meals for center youth in line with budgets and menus. The role emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and adherence to government directives.

You will mentor cooks, helpers and student interns, coordinate with the staff, and ensure timely meal service and inventory accuracy. This is a hands-on leadership position with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Must have food preparation training and two years related experience.
• Must obtain SERV Safe certification within 90 days of employment.
• Experience working with youth and strong written and verbal communication are required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare center meals according to planned menus and budget.
• Coordinate meal quantities with cooks and helpers.
• Mentor staff and student interns in safe, hygienic food prep.
• Minimize waste through proper storage and inventory control.
• Assist in creating daily, monthly, and seasonal meal calendars.
• Supervise staff during shifts and report performance.
• Oversee food service operations during assigned duties and coordinate with receiving and stores.
