Job summary

Howmet in Whitehall, MI is seeking a Thermal Process Specialist to support kiln and prebake equipment in a state-of-the-art ceramic core facility. You will develop operating procedures, drive process improvements, and lead equipment projects while coordinating with plant maintenance and manufacturing.

Strong problem-solving and data analysis skills are essential. This is an on-site role requiring extensive experience in thermal processing.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalency is required.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in machine rebuilds, retrofits and integrations.
• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct repairs, rebuilds for prebakes and kilns (internal and external).
• Identify process and equipment improvements using internal and external resources.
• Troubleshoot operating problems and emergencies.
• Conduct audits and monitor/correct actions.
• Manage fuel consumption and fuel efficiency for thermal process.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing and Engineering to optimize equipment utilization.
• Analyze process data to determine actions for process and equipment improvements.
• Prepare budgetary information and capital requests for equipment improvements.
• Daily thermal process audits and inspections.
• Monitor process performance and determine corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day process and equipment issues related to thermal process.
