HITRUST helps organizations manage risk, data protection, and compliance through industry-leading frameworks and tools. We're looking for a Senior Java Software Developer to join our dynamic team to design, build, and implement new features in an existing enterprise application.

This position will be Hybrid (if located in DFW), or Remote (if located outside of DFW) with required quarterly travel.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain Java applications using SpringBoot and microservices architecture
• Drive quality through consistent application of Test-Driven Development (TDD)
• Design and build internal tools and user-facing features that enhance the user experience
• Collaborate with Product, DevOps, and QA teams in an Agile environment
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in production and development environments
• Use AI-assisted development tools such as OpenAI Codex to advance test-driven development practices, improve code quality, and accelerate delivery of well-tested software.
• Mentor junior developers and participate in code reviews

Required Skills and Experience:

• 7+ Years of experience in Java and Spring Boot
• 7+ Years of experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases
• Experience with Agile development methodologies
• Proficient in cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP
• Strong experience with GIT for version control
• Skilled in testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito
• Excited about Test Driven Development and software quality
• Experience with, or openness to, AI-assisted development workflows, including pairing with tools such as OpenAI Codex to support test-driven development and code quality.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• 10+ years of experience in Java and Spring Boot
• 2+ years of practical Test-Driven Development experience
• Familiarity with front-end technologies (e.g. Angular, React)
• Experience modernizing legacy applications or "strangling" monoliths
• Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools, including OpenAI Codex, in test-driven development and modern software engineering workflows.
