Job summary

GreyStar Systems LLC is seeking a Software QA Automation Engineer (Java focused) for an ongoing contract in Ann Arbor, MI (Hybrid). The role involves developing and maintaining test strategies, automating tests with Java-based tools, and collaborating with developers to ensure quality across UI, API, and integration layers.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in QA, 5+ years Java coding, and hands-on experience with Selenium, Playwright, Cucumber, and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years in software QA, preferably in Agile environments.
• 5+ years of Java coding experience.
• Experience with automated testing tools listed (Cucumber, Selenium, Playwright, Java).
• API automation testing using Java Springboot2, RestAssured, GraphQL or Postman.
• Experience with JMS messaging protocols (AMQ, RabbitMQ, Kafka).
• CI/CD with Jenkins/JenkinsX and Git for version control.
• SQL queries for test data preparation and validation.
• Nice to have Couchbase, Splunk, Kubernetes, and payment-related testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop, document, and maintain test strategy and scenarios.
• Build and execute unit, integration, and performance tests across environments.
• Automate QA using modern frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with developers to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
• Create defects with detailed repro steps and validate fixes.
• Perform exploratory testing to refine test cases for features.
• Present results to sign off production releases and support releases.
