Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services seeks an experienced Java/Liferay engineer in New Jersey to design, develop, and maintain scalable, distributed applications for institutional clients. Qualifications

• 7 to 10 years of hands-on Core Java development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Liferay Portal, including Portlets, Layouts, and Themes.
• Experience designing and developing scalable, reusable, and distributed enterprise applications using Java and Liferay.
• Strong experience with multithreading, concurrency, and high-performance application development.
• Hands-on experience with messaging technologies such as MQ, TIBCO, and JMS.
• Strong experience with UNIX shell scripting and database technologies, including SQL and Oracle.
• Experience with Angular, AngularJS, React, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS.
• Strong knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, distributed systems, and microservices architecture.
• Experience with Jenkins, Maven, Eclipse, IntelliJ, Git, GitHub, Artifactory, and Ansible.
• Hands-on experience with scripting languages such as Groovy, Python, or Bash.
• Strong experience with Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and CI/CD processes.
• Experience providing production support for large-scale application deployments.
• Familiarity with monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as Dynatrace and Splunk.
• Experience contributing to architecture design, technical standards, code quality, and engineering best practices.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and providing technical guidance.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, reusable, secure, and distributed applications for institutional clients.
• Drive the architecture and technical design of large-scale projects in collaboration with business and technology partners.
• Partner with Product Owners and business teams to define technical requirements and translate business needs into technology solutions.
• Develop and deploy high-quality solutions in a fast-paced environment.
• Perform hands-on Core Java development while providing technical direction across projects.
• Establish standards for code quality, system design, security, and engineering best practices.
• Guide cross-functional teams and promote collaboration, innovation, accountability, and technical excellence.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance, development support, and knowledge-sharing opportunities.
• Design and optimize multithreaded, high-performance, and distributed applications.
• Develop and support integrations using REST, JSON, microservices, MQ, TIBCO, and JMS.
• Support front-end application development using Angular, AngularJS, React, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS.
• Identify opportunities to improve data quality, application performance, technical processes, and system reliability.
• Standardize and automate SDLC processes to improve delivery efficiency, scalability, and quality.
• Proactively identify cybersecurity risks and support long-term remediation of application and infrastructure issues.
• Support production deployments, infrastructure operations, application monitoring, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
• Use Dynatrace and Splunk to analyze system performance and production issues.
• Collaborate with Scrum, Delivery, Product, and Business teams to achieve project and organizational goals.
• Drive cross-team knowledge sharing and consistent adoption of technical standards and best practices.
• Stay current with portal and emerging technologies and identify modernization opportunities.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to define technical strategies, roadmaps, and priorities aligned with business objectives.
• Provide updates on delivery progress, technical challenges, risks, and strategic initiatives.
• Build strong relationships with business and technology stakeholders and serve as a trusted technical advisor.
