Job summary

Mutual of Omaha is modernizing its Group Insurance platform by delivering API-first and event-driven solutions. We seek a seasoned software engineer who stays hands-on while mentoring others and guiding the team.

You will design and deploy Spring Boot microservices in AWS, build RESTful APIs and Kafka-based integrations, and influence decisions across the engineering group. Strong communication and leadership are essential for success in this remote role.

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing, developing, and implementing enterprise apps.
• Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices.
• Experience deploying applications in AWS environments.
• Experience building event-driven solutions using Kafka.
• Experience mentoring developers and contributing to engineering best practices.

Responsibilities

• Modernize Mutual of Omaha's Group Insurance platform through API and event-driven integrations.
• Design, develop, deploy, and support Spring Boot microservices in AWS environments.
• Build RESTful APIs and Kafka-based event solutions for Third-Party Benefit Administrators and partners.
• Collaborate with business and tech teams to translate requirements into scalable, reliable solutions.
• Mentor developers, conduct code reviews, and promote engineering best practices.
• Influence technical direction and participate in architectural discussions.
