Job summary

Episode Six is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Austin, TX, with remote work allowed within Texas. You will own core Java services, optimize performance, and lead development efforts across teams.

The role requires deep expertise in Java, Spring, and high-throughput systems, plus mentoring engineers and driving SDLC activities with a focus on quality and regulatory alignment. A bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of experience are expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in CS, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years' experience as a Java developer.
  • 6 years in Java Enterprise software development.
  • 5 years in Java memory and performance tuning with Lambdas and Generics.
  • 5 years in Spring Framework.
  • 5 years in design patterns and high-throughput algorithms.
  • 4 years in concurrent programming for real-time systems.
  • 4 years in Hibernate/JPA and query optimization.
  • 4 years in relational and NoSQL databases (MySQL, Oracle, DB2, MS SQL, MongoDB, Cassandra).
  • 2 years in software development compliance.
  • 3 years leading cross-functional teams or mentoring engineers in fintech.

Responsibilities

  • Code, test, analyze and review code for accuracy, functionality, performance, and security.
  • Drive the Software Development Life Cycle, defining sprint goals, ensuring operational stability, and leading product launches.
  • Provide Technical Leadership and mentoring other engineers with technical competence.
  • Communicate strategic technical plans and solutions to stakeholders, including executives, cross-functional teams, and clients.
  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other teams to align technical solutions with business and regulatory objectives.
  • Document architectural designs, create developer guides, and ensure knowledge transfer through comprehensive documentation.
