Job summary

Citi in Jacksonville, Florida is seeking a senior software engineering leader to design and build mid-to-large Java applications using Spring Boot and microservices. You will own the full software lifecycle end-to-end and define engineering standards that align with the platform blueprint.

You will mentor engineers, drive Agile delivery, collaborate with stakeholders, and deliver measurable business outcomes in a high‑performance, globally connected team.

Qualifications

• 5 to 8 years of experience in a software product development or technical environment.
• Hands‑on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices development.
• Proven ability to manage the complete software development lifecycle, from requirements and design through release and operational support.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a data‑driven approach to diagnosing technical issues and making engineering decisions.
• Practical experience delivering projects using Agile or hybrid Agile‑Waterfall methodologies.
• Ability to manage third‑party technology vendors, including implementation planning and partnership evaluation.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to align technical and non‑technical stakeholders around complex delivery challenges.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Champion Agile delivery across the team, identifying inter‑team dependencies, optimising development processes, and continuously improving concurrent project throughput.
• Build consensus across engineering teams, business stakeholders, and senior leadership, translating technical decisions into clear outcomes that keep delivery on track.
• Mentor and coach engineers, share technical expertise through brown bags and engineering forums, and advance your own knowledge through industry certifications and continuous learning.

• Hands‑on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices development, with a track record of delivering production‑grade applications.

• Proven ability to manage the complete software development lifecycle, from requirements and design through release and operational support.

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a data‑driven approach to diagnosing technical issues and making engineering decisions.

• Practical experience delivering projects using Agile or hybrid Agile‑Waterfall methodologies.

• Ability to manage third‑party technology vendors, including implementation planning and partnership evaluation.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to align technical and non‑technical stakeholders around complex delivery challenges.

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.

Beneficial skills & qualifications

• Experience with front‑end technologies such as React or Angular to complement back‑end delivery.

• PMP, Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), or an equivalent project management certification.

• Experience driving large‑scale process improvement or engineering culture change within a technology organisation.

• Background leading infrastructure programmes or complex, multi‑team software delivery initiatives.

Education:

• Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience.
