Job summary

Omm IT Solutions seeks a senior software development professional for an on-site role in Woodlawn, MD. You will design, develop, and maintain enterprise services and APIs using Java, Spring Boot, REST, and SOAP-based web services, integrating LLM/AI components within enterprise applications.

The candidate should have extensive Java/JEE experience, strong DevOps fluency, and a track record in scalable microservices. Public trust clearance and on-site work five days a week are required.

• Extensive design and programming skills in Java and JEE technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop software applications using Twelve-Factor App methodology.
• Design and develop applications using Java, REST API and Spring Boot.
• Collaborate with product design and engineering teams to understand needs.
• Design and develop Microservices using Spring Boot, Java and RESTful architecture.
• Develop SOAP-based Web Services using JAX-WS, Apache Axis, and WSDL.
• DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and tools such as Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket; cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containers.
• Develop unit test cases with JUnit, Mockito, and Power Mock.
• Attend customer technical discussions/design/development meetings and provide viable technical solutions.
• Provide guidance to junior/mid-level developers.

PLEASE NOTE:

KEY REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Senior Software Development background in enterprise software development experience such as an extensive experience designing, developing, and maintaining service-oriented applications and APIs, including Java Spring Boot applications, RESTful web services, integrating and operationally supporting LLM and agentic AI components within enterprise applications.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

• Design and develop software applications using Twelve-Factor App methodology from functional requirement
• Design and develop applications using Java, REST API and spring boot.
• Collaborate with product design and engineering teams to develop an understanding of needs.
• Design and develop Microservices using Spring Boot, Java and RESTful architecture.
• Develop Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) based Web Services using technologies such as JAX-WS, Apache Axis, and Web Services Description Language (WSDL).
• Good understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and tools such as Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, and experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and containerization technologies.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, QA, and project managers and commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with emerging technologies.
• Develop unit test cases for every possible Java class with real scenarios using Junit, Mockito and Power Mock frameworks
• Attend all customer technical discussions/design/development meetings and provide viable technical solutions to further enhance the existing architecture and improve code quality/process.
• Provide guidance/support to other junior/mid-level developers.

Requirements

SKILL REQUIRMENTS:

• Extensive Design and Programming skills in Java and JEE technologies.
• Experience working on Agile projects and strong knowledge of Agile terminology and tools including Agility.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Experience in designing high-throughput and low-latency systems using Java, including architecting scalable solutions capable of handling large volumes of concurrent requests with minimal response times.
• Strong experience with Java, Spring boot, and REST API.
• Experience integrating and operationally supporting LLM and agentic AI components within enterprise applications, including retrieval-augmented generation and vector search, agent orchestration frameworks, LLM evaluation and guardrail approaches and the deployment, monitoring and automated retraining pipelines.
• Technical expertise should include PostgreSQL, MongoDB, SQL, Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3, Agile software development,
• Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins CI/CD, Eclipse, code reviews, multi-threaded application development, and production support
• Experience designing and deploying cloud-native applications onto AWS with PostgreSQL.
• Experience with modern software development tools for Continuous Integration including Jenkins, Git/BitBucket, Jira, Nexus, Maven, Jenkins, SonarQube, Fortify, and UrbanCode Deploy.
• Hands-on Design and development experience on Microservices and RESTful API.
• Experience with Automated unit test (i.e. JUnit, Mocking frameworks), Test Driven Development (TDD), and Behavior-driven development (BDD) (Cucumber).
• Experience with JEE technologies including Struts, Spring Framework (IoC, MVC, Transactions, Security, and Batch), Spring Boot, Spring JDBC, JPA, Hibernate, SOAP/RESTful, XML, DB2, Tomcat, WebSphere.
• Experience with static code analyzers like SonarQube and addressing SonarQube recommended technical debts such as bugs, vulnerabilities, hotspots in the code.
• Knowledge of security vulnerabilities in web applications and addressing them.

DESIRED SKILLS:

• Demonstrate a strong understanding of the latest trends in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and showcase the ability to apply AI knowledge to enhance or redesign existing system architectures, identifying opportunities where AI-driven solutions can add value, improve efficiency, or enable new capabilities.
• Exposure to writing Technical White Papers and systems design documents.
