Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking a Senior Java Developer in the United States to build and evolve high-load backend services for a FinTech platform. You will focus on microservice development, event-driven architectures, and performance optimization, while promoting production-grade engineering practices.

Responsibilities include designing scalable services, implementing REST APIs, resolving bottlenecks, and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial Java development experience.
• Proficiency in Java 17+ and Spring Boot 3+.
• Strong understanding of multithreading, concurrency, collections, generics, Streams, and exception handling.
• Experience with Spring Core, Data, Security, Hibernate / JPA.
• Strong PostgreSQL experience; understanding of high-availability setups such as Patroni.
• Hands-on Kafka experience and understanding of event-driven architectures.
• Experience with distributed systems, scalability, Saga patterns, and REST APIs.
• Familiarity with Docker, OpenShift, GitLab CI, Maven / Gradle.
• Strong troubleshooting and observability skills.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher.
• Nice to have Banking / FinTech experience.
