Job summary

AKTRA INC, based in McLean, VA, is seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable enterprise applications. This onsite role requires hands-on coding, architecture input, and collaboration with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.

You will work with Java 8+, Angular, TypeScript, RESTful APIs, and relational databases, focusing on performance, security, and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 5–8+ years of software development experience.
• 4+ years of hands-on Java development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java 8+ and core Java concepts.
• Experience with Angular and TypeScript.
• Solid understanding of relational databases and SQL.
• Experience with GitHub or GitLab.
• Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Design (OOD), SOLID principles, and design patterns.
• Experience with Hibernate, JPA, or other ORM frameworks.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with JUnit, Mockito, automated testing, and test-driven development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support enterprise applications using Java and Angular.
• Participate in architecture and technical design discussions.
• Develop RESTful APIs and scalable backend services.
• Apply software engineering best practices, including code reviews, design patterns, and automated testing.
• Troubleshoot and resolve performance, scalability, and security issues.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to team growth.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Create and maintain technical documentation.
