Job summary

Apple in Madison, WI seeks a Senior Software Engineer (Java) to design, develop, and maintain large-scale backend services for the Apple Media commerce platform. You will build RESTful APIs, data pipelines for in-app purchases, and content delivery, owning the full lifecycle from conception through production deployment.

The role requires 3+ years Java experience, strong OO design, and experience with relational and NoSQL databases.

Qualifications

3+ years of Java development experience.
Strong OO design and Java-oriented architecture.
Experience building scalable backend services and RESTful APIs.
Knowledge of relational databases and NoSQL (Cassandra, HDFS) and ER modeling.
Experience with eventual consistency and distributed data design.
Familiar with Spark, HDFS, and caching (Redis) a plus.
Understanding of scalability, performance, and system design trade-offs.
Excellent communication and collaboration; ability to lead in gray areas.
Self-starter with ownership mindset and integrity.
Passion for commerce domain and user-centric product mindset.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain large-scale, high-performance backend services for Apple Media e-commerce.
Build scalable RESTful APIs and integration pipelines for in-app purchases, subscriptions, and content delivery.
Own full product life-cycle from conception to production deployment, including design, implementation, testing, and monitoring.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and execute on technical solutions.
Address data consistency, analytics, and reporting challenges across multiple jurisdictions.
Measure, profile, and tune system performance; architect for high scalability and reliability.
