Job summary

ManpowerGroup Global, Inc. is seeking a Senior Java Backend Engineer with Big Data and AWS expertise to design and build scalable backend applications and data platforms processing billions of events daily.

You will work on distributed microservices, REST APIs, and cloud infrastructure using Hadoop/Spark, Hive, Presto, EMR, ECS, Lambda, S3, and CI/CD pipelines. Hybrid role in Rockville, MD or Tysons Corner, VA with 3 onsite days.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on Java backend development experience.
• Strong experience building distributed microservices architectures.
• Deep understanding of RESTful API design, scalable backend systems, and distributed computing.
• Experience writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support highly scalable Java-based backend applications and microservices
• Build and optimize distributed systems that process and analyze billions of daily market events
• Develop solutions utilizing Big Data technologies including Hadoop, Spark, Hive, and Presto
• Architect and implement high-performance APIs that enable fast, reliable access to large-scale datasets
• Design scalable data processing and ingestion frameworks on AWS cloud infrastructure
• Partner with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver scalable technical solutions
• Improve application performance, reliability, observability, and scalability across distributed environments
• Drive engineering best practices, code quality, testing standards, and architectural consistency
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity while maintaining rigorous engineering standards
• Stay current with emerging technologies and contribute to technical innovation within the organization
