Job summary

Health & Human Services Comm in Austin, TX seeks a Senior Java Developer to build and maintain full-stack Java applications on HHSC’s cloud platform (Azure/AWS) within an Agile (Scrum) team. The role is hands-on, providing technical direction and mentoring teammates.

You will ensure code quality, security, and effective collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams. The ideal candidate has extensive Java/OOP experience, Spring Boot, Angular/React, and strong CI/CD, microservices, and data

Qualifications

• Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in computer science, computer information systems, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in OOP Java and enterprise application design.
• 8+ years of experience leading enterprise Java development teams.
• 8+ years in applications development on J2EE platform and microservices.
• 4+ years of PowerBI experience.
• 3+ years of Agile (Scrum) experience.
• CI/CD pipelines experience (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).

Responsibilities

• Oversee architectural direction, planning, production support and customer services for custom software systems.
• Code, test and debug programs; prepare test data; provide technical guidance to staff.
• Mentor junior developers and ensure coding standards and security policies.
• Coordinate analysis and design with business analysts and architects.
• Support interfaces with external agencies and service providers.
