Job summary

Photon is seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer focused on GenAI & Microservices to design scalable, secure enterprise applications in Columbus and Dallas.

You will own system design, build event-driven architectures with Kafka, integrate GenAI capabilities, and mentor teams.

Candidates should have 8+ years Java, Spring Boot, microservices, cloud, and CI/CD experience; Python for AI tasks is a plus.

Qualifications

• 8 years of experience in Java/J2EE application development.
• Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices Architecture.
• Strong understanding of System Design, Distributed Systems, Design Patterns, and API Architecture.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture.
• Strong Python programming experience, particularly for AI/GenAI integrations.
• Experience designing or implementing GenAI architectures and LLM-based applications.
• Knowledge of RAG, Vector Databases, Embeddings, Prompt Engineering, and AI Agents.
• Experience integrating LLMs such as OpenAI, Gemini, Claude, Llama, or similar models.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, authentication, security, scalability, and performance optimization.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and modern DevOps practices is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, resilient applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices.
• Own system design, architecture, and technical solutioning.
• Design event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka for real-time data.
• Develop secure and scalable REST APIs and backend services.
• Design GenAI/LLM-based architectures and AI-powered enterprise solutions.
• Work with Python for AI integrations and GenAI application development.
• Integrate LLMs and AI services with existing Java apps.
• Drive performance, scalability, observability across distributed systems.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, data ML engineers, and dev teams.
• Provide technical leadership, code/design reviews, and mentorship.
